Small car park in Roughlee, followed Stang Top Lane. We were the only ones there, everyone else was clearly on top of Pendle Hill just behind, we could see the crowds ! Lovely views and a quick visit to Alice, the Lancashire witch on the way back.

Revisit whilst on walk in area, on way to Pendle Hill. I alighted the 07.10 M5 Burnley bus from Earby at the top of Reedyford Road Nelson, which I do every week day for work. Reached the pillar via Pasture Lane/Stang Top Road.

Started at Nelson Train Station and walked through Barrowford, across the fields and over to Roughlee. Then around Brown Hill and up on the road to the pillar. Lovely paint scheme (UTC) although could do with a new coat.

Parked in Barley main Car Par and headed out on the three trig circular, Pendle Hill and R-O-Eng being the other two. Walked up the river and up by the Outdoor centre. Fair bit boggy on the walk up. Not the best days for visibility.

My the roads around here are narrow! Parked at the T junction about 600m north and walked back. Cloud base down so not such good views. Farmer near-by muck spreading so didn't venture too far off the PROW.

Walked from Barley passing both Black Moss reservoirs then turning right up an hill then right and up the rest of the hill to get to this one. Fantastic views across to Pendle Hill that was covered in the 1612 celebrations.

Visible and accessible being just off footpath. I used the path up from White Hough although there is a nearby road that comes up from Roughlee. Either way it is a muddy approach at the moment. Views of the surrounding countryside and Pendle Hill are excellent. Pillar is in good condition, being painted white stands out well but the plug is missing.

Plug missing; base exposed. As with Bashall Eaves, the FB is deeply recessed. Next to untidy disused quarry, still with burnt-out car. Views including Boulsworth, Pendle and Winter Hill offered some compensation for the immediate locality.

Visited to record FB number. The pillar was completed 25th August 1948 costing £9.3s.0d. Later in 1948 this marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station SD96/T44 in the Skipton Secondary block. Flush bracket S4705 was levelled for height in 1962. This trig point was last maintained by the OS in May 1976.
